LifePoint’s Global Missions program continues to expand its outward focused goals in both Africa and southern Mexico. Global Missions director, John Cressaty, will be leading a team to Nairobi on May 10, 2010. Click here to view the Team Blog.

While in Africa, the team will continue working with our partner and sister church The Tumaini City Mission and the school on the church grounds, the Mwangaza Academy. After our last mission trip in April of 2009 we determined that sponsoring all the children at the school would become our top priority. We have devloped a program patterned after Compassion International, whereby members of the LifePoint congregations can support a child or, a number of children, through a financial investment in their education. Each child will be identified for the sponsor and individual communications and relationships will be established. Our first step in this process was to photograph and catalogue all of the 300 children that attend the academy. We now have the process up and running and are actively seeking more sponsors for our students. Currently we have close to 200 children sponsored. Our yearly mission trip to the state of Chiapas in southern Mexico took off last summer as changes in the church in Pulpitio were taking place. Our team leader Mike Torres and Pastor Craig Fuller from Lifepoint Incline traveled to Chiapas July 9th through the 13th to explore our options there. We will be sending a mission team in the early summer of 2010.
